I am so greatful for the chance to meet George Conway and spend time absorbing the life experiences from him. As George would say "Very Good, Very Good"
George, I will miss you. I will always have the memories of visiting with you and the rest of the "coffee drinkers" in Target :) And I so enjoyed the time I had taking my breaks chatting with you.
George sent me pictures he had of Joey's mission in NY, he was so proud of him. Proud of Kevin too, telling me what a hard worker he is..... he always told me how Joey and Kevin were doing (I had met both in Target).... he was so proud of them. Leslie- It seems I know you from the wonderful things George told me about you. You will be blessed several times over for all the help and care you gave George when he needed it.
I just heard of George's passing, I lost touch with him when he moved from the place on Gage in Richland in December. (I still have his birthday present) My husband Keith enjoyed talking politics and world issues with George when we went to visit. I am only sorry that I didn't have a chance to see him within the last couple of months like I had wanted to. I love you like family George- and I will definitely be looking you up when I get to the other side! Be well my friend.... "Very Good". ....... Lynne (from Target) Verros

Jey,Kevin,Leslie,
I will miss George IMMENSELY! He was a dear friend of mine for the last 15yrs. I always enjoyed our visits at Target with the "Old Farts Club. I learned a lot from him. He was a wealth of knowledge. He was so proud of both of you boys and your accomplishments. I will always remember the good times we shared. George will never be forgotten.

George...what a character he was! He use to go to Target and meet my husband daily for coffee and other friends a couple of times a week before he went to assisted living. This went on for more than 10 years. We enjoyed his stories from his Navy days. He actually lived the history we were seeing on TV! We sought his opinion on what was happening on Wall Street and the markets around the world. George always kept up with world financial events. He was also good at goading me into an argument...and I'd do the same to him. Just something that would get our blood going before the caffeine would set in - then we'd laugh and shake our heads and let it go. I'd know I was right and he'd think he was right. Good times. I'll miss him. I'm glad I was able to visit him a few days before he passed.

Our sympathy for the family left behind may they know that he is in a better place without all of the pain and suffering.

To reconnect with, my "Uncle Joe", after nearly fifty yrs was cathartic!
To his family, I thank you for making that happen.
To my Patriotic, Adventurous, Uncle, with those twinkling blue eyes, I wish you a bon voyage on this new journey!

George was a patriot! He loved his country and his Navy. While he was in different assisted living homes in the past year, George was a leader in all of them. He reminded residents of patriotic holidays, and the importance of liberty and our freedoms. I enjoyed hearing some of George's "war stories" -- he was a New York City guy and I was from upstate NY -- and when he told me his minesweeper was built in Kingston NY and he spent time there on the Hudson River -- that was near my hometown so we had fun reminiscing. George was fond of the VFW and when I would visit him, he would want me to pass on a big hello to his fellow Comrades. We will miss George Conway! John Butterfield

Thank you to Leslie, Dale, Joey and Kevin for being so kind and welcoming to me. The opportunity to say good bye to the man who fathered me was very healing.
