My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Mercer family.. Mrs. Mercer was a beautiful person inside and out. She had to "deal" with me as a student at Kennewick High and she was such a sweet lady! She also was an inspiration to me when I would see her at the gym, working harder than me for sure..Hugs to you Elizabeth~ Jen

Arin and family--I am so saddened by your loss...Arin and I used to work together in the Federal Bldg - your mom was an awesome person - everyone loved her here at Battelle. I am so glad that I was able to meet her, she is now your angel in heaven!

Dear Family, So sorry to hear of Karen's passing. She was a good friend to our family. And especially to my Mother, Simone. I always remember her smile and happiness she had about her. She always remembered who I was long after I left the Ward. And would ask about my family. I sincerely hope that comfort and understanding may be with you all. This is not a simple task to be separated from someone you love and especially a Mother. God Bless You. Sincerely and deeply, Ann Sparks Avery

I was deeply saddened to learn of Karen's passing. Although we never met, I felt close to her because of our mutual interest in our shared genealogy. I will miss being able to share my discoveries with her. My thoughts are with Bill and the family.

As my administrative assistant for several years, I believe I had a friend in Karen. Even after she moved on to other responsibilities, "E-Karen" as I called her acted happy to see me and we had a nice chat. I have been impressed with her strength as she valiantly battled breast cancer. I will miss her and am better for having known her.

Dear Elizabeth and Family, I was very sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I have many good memories of your mother during my growing up years. I remember how difficult it was when I lost my mother, and although I still miss her terribly, the grief over losing her seemed to ease with time. I found it much easier to bear the closer I was to our Savior. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your friend, Georgia

I knew Karen many years ago when I was a hairdresser and had the honor of doing her hair for her wedding. Through the years we would run into each other (usually at the grocery store)and share mommie stories and it never ceased too amaze me how great she always looked and how calm and peaceful she was. Truly a woman of grace filled with love of her family and her faith. I then saw her when we were both undergoing breast cancer treatment and once again she was the ever wonderful example of courage.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Karen was a beautiful woman and I count myself lucky to have known her.

Thank you for all the lives you touched and for showing us what a strong woman really is. My favorite memory of you is still your wedding when I was awful and you wouldn't bend to my will. Godspeed and bless your family.

We were next door neighbors of the
Mercer family for 25 years,watched
the family grow, little ones into
adults, start their own family, a
united family they were.
I am so grateful I had a good visit
with Karen, Bill, Arin and her
little ones a few weeks back,
caught up with pictures of all the
family in Karen's room where she
would retreat to rest, a dedicated
wife, mom and grandmother she truly was, thanks for the memories. gb

I could tell from just visiting briefly with Sister Mercer that she is one of those "Super Women" that I so much admire. She has a quick mind and warm personality. I know she has passed this on to her lucky children.
My heart goes out to the Mercer family and you will be in my prayers. May you feel the comfort that only our Father can give.

As one of Karen's "other kids" I appreciate so much being able to grow up with such an amazing mentor. She and your family are in so many of my life's memories, it is hard to determine where friendship ends and family starts. Thank you for sharing her with our family. We are eternally grateful for having her and all of you in our lives. We will love her and miss her for the rest of our lives. Thank you also, for allowing us into your home and allowing us the chance to say goodbye. It meant the world to us! Love you all, Suzanne

My prayers are with you and your family. I first met Karen as a substitute teacher in high school and later had the privilege to work with her as a co-worker at PNNL. She is definitely one who stood up for what was just and for that she will always be remembered. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother who always spoke of her children and grandchildren every chance she could get :) I hope that the next chapter in this journey fills you with peace and comfort to know that she was an amazing women to all of those who knew her.

I had the great and wonderful opportunity to know Karen as a mother and a grandmother to my dear friends. We were able to celebrate holidays and milestones together. Karen was someone I greatly admired and always looked forward to being with. She will be greatly missed in all of our lives.
